Around Shetland
Sponsored Walk

Welcome to my web site; my name is Terry Williamson I am 51 years old and live in the south end of the Shetland mainland.

This site has been set up to track my progress on a Sponsored Walk around the Coast of Shetland.

While being off work with depression I started to think of ways to relax, get fit and prepare to get back to work. I have always enjoyed walking around Shetland’s coast and an idea started to form about how I could do some walking and at the same time raise some money for a charity.

So that is why I have decided to walk around the entire coast of the Mainland of Shetland and all the Permanently Inhabited Islands, I have calculated this to be in the region of 850 - 900 miles. While doing this I hope to raise some funds for a charity called ‘Mind your Head’ you will find a link to their web site on my Links page so check it out and see some of the good work they do.

During this walk I will see parts of Shetland I have never seen before; and might not see again. I have never done anything like this before so I have no idea how long it will take. I plan this to be a walk and not a route march to be done in a set time. My main aim is to relax and enjoy the experience.

The Current Information page gives details of where I will be walking next and general walk information. I am recording the walk on the Progress Map , Distance , Photos and  Diary pages.
The rest of the site pages should be self explanatory

I will update the site every week or so depending on the walk progresses.
